Williamson Turn Steps

  1. Put the rudder hard over to the side of the casualty
  2. After deviation of 60° from original course, shift rudder hard over to the opposite side
  3. When heading is 20° short of reciprocal course, rudder to midships
  4. Steady on reciprocal course and approach the person in water
