Why port time matters

Arrival notices, NOR and crew calls are easy to get wrong when the ship is on UTC and the agent is on local time. Some ports use daylight saving, some do not. This converter uses the standard IANA time-zone names built into the browser, so Singapore stays UTC+8 all year and London moves between GMT and BST.

How this calculator works

Pick the date and time as it is in the “from” zone. The page treats that clock time as local in that zone, then shows the same instant in the “to” zone and in UTC. It does not replace the ALRS or the company’s passage-plan time standard. Always write UTC on official messages if the company requires it.

Who should use it

Useful for officers planning a call or a phone window with home. Confirm the port’s official time in the pilot book before using it for NOR.
