Why a passage plan checklist matters
IMO and company SMS require a berth-to-berth passage plan covering appraisal, planning, execution and monitoring. Missing one item — an expired ENC, a missed cable area, or no abort point — can put the ship in a no-go area with no prepared exit. A short checklist does not replace the full plan on ECDIS, but it catches the items that are easy to forget when the ship is rushing to sail.
How to use this page
Tick each item as it is completed. The counter shows progress. This list is a generic bridge aid. Company forms, flag requirements and the Master’s standing orders always come first. After sailing, the plan must still be monitored and updated if the weather, draft or berth changes.
Who should use it
Useful for the navigating officer preparing the plan and for the Master reviewing it. Print or screenshot the completed list only as a personal reminder, not as the official SMS record.
