What this list is for
The ISPS Code requires a Ship Security Plan, a Ship Security Officer and records that can be shown to Port State Control. Before arrival the SSO and Master confirm the security level, whether a Declaration of Security is needed, and that access control will work in that port. This page is a memory checklist. It does not replace the SSP and it does not describe how security equipment is arranged.
How to use it
Tick items as the official SSP tasks are completed. Do not post ship security details, camera coverage or restricted-area layouts on the internet. If the port security level is higher than the ship’s level, follow the company and flag instructions.
Who should use it
Useful for the SSO preparing a pre-arrival briefing. The approved SSP remains the only controlling document.
